The WPA funded 1% of their budget for the arts, which included the Federal Art, Music, Writers and Theater Projects. Many cities around America use this same formula today and so do we. In 1998 Ranger Doug formed a philanthropic society dedicated to preserving the WPA-CCC art and structures within and around our National Parks. To date, we have donated at least 1% of our gross sales to the following projects:
- 1998: $2000 to the General Fund, Grand Teton Natural History Association
- 1999: $2000 to Sharlene Milligan Scholarship fund (Grand Teton Natural History Association) for an Artist in Residency
- 2001: $2000 to Peaks, Plateaus and Canyons Association -- seed money for a book on WPA structures in the SW Parks
- 2002: $2000 to Petrified Forest National Park -- restoration of the Petrified Forest WPA poster and restoration of the Painted Desert Visitors Center
- 2003: $1000 to Bandelier National Monument -- curatorial and restoration of CCC buildings. $1000 to The Murie Center, Jackson Hole, Wyoming
- 2004: $1000 to Mesa Verde Centennial Project and $1000 to Bear Paw Battlefield Project, Idaho
- 2005: $1000 to the Antarctic Historic Trust for Shackleton's Hut at Cape Royds, Antarctica, listed by the World Monument Society as one of the top 100 threatened historic sites on the planet.
- 2006: $1000 to Mesa Verde Museum Association for their Centennial Plein Air Painting Exhibition.
