The figure in this print could actually be two people:  author Jack Kerouac and Fred Beckey, noteworthy NW mountaineer who made the first ascent of Mt. Hozomeen in 1947.  Between 1967 and 1970, I climbed pretty steadily with Fred who only did first ascents.   In 1956, Jack Kerouac spent 63 days in the Desolation Peak lookout which inspired two books:  Desolation Angles and The Dharma Bums; here is a link for more history.  By switching out the last screen of this seven color serigraph, I created a Kerouac version (a Beckey version is under consideration) which will also be carried at the Lowell National Historic Park, Kerouac’s birthplace.

13 ½” X 19” serigraph print.
