Poster & Art Feedback
My name is Nathan and I am a frequent visitor of the national parks and avid adventurer. I started collecting WPA posters and postcards the past few years and I must say they are my favorite souvenir wherever I go. Your artwork inspired me to create a WPA inspired poster for my local hiking trails in Whittier, CA. I am almost done, and I will send you a copy when I am finished. Just want to say thank you to you and your team for continuing to produce these magnificent posters for all nature lovers to enjoy.
Take care, Nathan Blaikie
I’ve been traveling with my family to National Parks for years, and we’ve often commented to each other about your posters when we’ve seen them in park bookstores. When my oldest recently moved into his first house in Houston (he went to school at Rice and now works in Houston as an environmental engineer) I ordered your RMNP poster as his first piece of art. He was thrilled as we’ve hiked and backpacked all over Rocky, including climbing Longs, but his first comment was that it came with a Big Bend postcard telling him the poster was from me. He spent a couple spring breaks backpacking Big Bend so your choice, whether intentional as the closest park to Houston or random draw, was appropriate! I also appreciate the RMNP postcard you sent to me with a copy of the invoice . . . that’s fantastic customer service. Thanks for great pieces of art that remind us of the places we’ve shared incredible experiences.
Jeff
Greetings!
I just spent a considerable time on your site. I have to say it was great finding you. I had discovered you after a spring break vacation and ended up getting the General Grant sticker for our car. At that point, I wanted to find a few others, but some gift shops did not have them. Tonight I found your site and I was not only able to get the Sequoia sticker, I then decided to pick up stickers that we have visited. I am stoked that I am going to be able to show them off on our ride we use most often to visit these places. Thanks so much for preserving the retro look and feel of these parks.
I initially found your posters in Yosemite and purchased The Mariposa Grove poster and looks great framed. I immediately knew these were quality serigraphs and not some cheap printed junk. I have just received The Hawaii volcanoes poster that I ordered from your website and the quality and colors are stunning! Thanks, will be ordering more soon!
Recently I wanted a bunch of the National Park vintage postcards, like one of each. My advice is to sell the whole group as one big post card set. But you guys suggested a way to get all of them and refund me back $15 dollars postage as well. Brilliant advice (the refund posted today). The package was sent with speedy delivery too. If anyone is considering ordering here I would recommend doing business with the Ranger Doug folks.
Just wonderful, Ranger Doug! I was delighted to receive 4 postcard-sized prints of these as a perk for donating to a non-profit organization. Thank
you for helping to preserve these WPA images for us and for making them available to future generations of Americans. I know where my 2017 engagement calendar will be coming from.
Sincerely,
Beevo
I just wanted to let you know what a big fan I am of your artwork. The posters and post cards are absolutely stunning and of superior quality. I recently bought the set of Contemporary Post Cards and couldn’t be more pleased. I also have a few of the posters adorning the walls in my house.
Thank you so much for making these products available!!!! — Bill
I saw the sidebar about your reproductions of national parks posters in Outside magazine and was glad to see that the original artwork was being saved. Grand Teton National Park has always been a special place for me, so I ordered the Grand Teton poster with high expectations and was not disappointed. A beautiful poster! Thanks for saving some history.
I purchased 4 of your posters back in January, then purchased some hand-made, mission style white oak frames to go with them. Finally I have enough $$ to get them properly matted and framed. While searching for the images, I found an imposter website, making WPA-esque posters that have actual photographs in the background. Yuck. To my eye, the beauty of your posters is that they harken back to a simpler time in our country, and a timeless illustration style that will NEVER be out-of-date. Kudos to you for putting in the time & effort to reproduce these posters so faithfully. I will be a repeat customer, and put your clever sticker on the back on my motorcycle, which will be headed to Glacier Natl. Park this summer!
Thanks again.
The posters and stickers arrived yesterday in excellent shape. Thank you for your prompt response to my order. They were packaged and protected very well. However, most of all they were beautifully reproduced. I became aware of them from the article which appeared in the Dec/Jan 2016 issue of the Country Magazine. It was an excellent article about how Doug Leen found an original WPA poster for Jenny Lake and Grand Teton National Park where I had worked in the early 1960’s. Thank you Doug for your pursuing the reproduction and history of the many historic WPA posters.
I was thrilled to attend your talk today and regret that I had to leave
quickly without really getting to chat. The work you do with the art is
wonderful and it sounds as though your work as a dentist would be quite
inspiring to hear about as well.
I’ve been a fan of your work for a few years having seen it in various park
shops and am so happy that you are out there tracking down these works and
promoting them as well as preserving the originals.
My biggest regret is that your talk was so limited. I could tell that you
have so many stories about people, events, government, and the art that you
had to hold back. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to see you present in a
longer form one day.
It is incredible to meet someone who is responsible for preserving such an
interesting and important piece of our country’s history: the meeting place
of art (supported by the government!) and nature.
Please keep up the good work.
Discovered on my visit to Grand Canyon National Park. A gem of design and wondrous in it’s execution! I have added Rocky Mtn National park this week. I plan on visiting as many parks and monuments as I can so I can display even more of this beautiful art. Thank you for your restoration and enthusiasm for these gems of the WPA.
