Poster & Art Feedback
The posters and stickers arrived yesterday in excellent shape. Thank you for your prompt response to my order. They were packaged and protected very well. However, most of all they were beautifully reproduced. I became aware of them from the article which appeared in the Dec/Jan 2016 issue of the Country Magazine. It was an excellent article about how Doug Leen found an original WPA poster for Jenny Lake and Grand Teton National Park where I had worked in the early 1960’s. Thank you Doug for your pursuing the reproduction and history of the many historic WPA posters.

I was thrilled to attend your talk today and regret that I had to leave
quickly without really getting to chat. The work you do with the art is
wonderful and it sounds as though your work as a dentist would be quite
inspiring to hear about as well.
I’ve been a fan of your work for a few years having seen it in various park
shops and am so happy that you are out there tracking down these works and
promoting them as well as preserving the originals.
My biggest regret is that your talk was so limited. I could tell that you
have so many stories about people, events, government, and the art that you
had to hold back. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to see you present in a
longer form one day.
It is incredible to meet someone who is responsible for preserving such an
interesting and important piece of our country’s history: the meeting place
of art (supported by the government!) and nature.
Please keep up the good work.

Discovered on my visit to Grand Canyon National Park. A gem of design and wondrous in it’s execution! I have added Rocky Mtn National park this week. I plan on visiting as many parks and monuments as I can so I can display even more of this beautiful art. Thank you for your restoration and enthusiasm for these gems of the WPA.

I was watching the latest episodes of Parks and Recreation. I was so pleased to see Ranger Doug WPA posters as part of the set, I’ve been collecting for years! So proud!

We have 6 Ranger Doug prints in our house already and we ordered 8 more from National Parks that we’ve been to over the past few years. People always comment on the 4 we have hanging in our family room (we’ve had them there for 7 years). The vibrant colors and beauty make me smile and remind me of wonderful vacactions and beautiful places. Of the 8 we recently ordered, I can’t wait to hang the Everglades one in my kitchen. The Denali and Hawaii ones are stunning too and I can’t wait to hang them in my family room too. The quality is terrific.

Hello!
I saw your prints at Denali….loved them so much, great idea to rekindle
this beautiful art, and to do this so well.
Best wishes,
Keith
On behalf of the Department of the Interior, I want to thank you for your generous donations of original design and reproduction serigraph prints to the Office of the Secretary Art Collection. This set is a wonderful addition to the Collection through the Art-In-Office Program. It is through donations such as yours, especially by the nature of your artwork, that we are reminded how the work we do affects the public. Your commitment to preserving our shared history is admirable. Knowledge of these Work Projects Administration (WPA) poster designs would certainly be greatly diminished had you not become interested in them back in 1973. The National Park Service and United States Travel Bureau serigraphs that you create have enhanced the legacy of this onetime WPA Project. The Department appreciates your efforts and we look forward to seeing your future designs.

I am originally from Palmer, Alaska and I have always had a connection to the State, even though I live in Washington full time now. I saw the Mount McKinley print at Ranger Doug and I fell in love! I ordered it and the print is so stunning in person. It has beautiful blended colors and is so beautiful. This blending technique allows my print to be completely unique and entirely special to me. Thank you so much Ranger Doug! I love it. I do wish that they were signed and editioned by the printer…that would be nice

What a national treasure the original posters are – it’s amazing they languished in obscurity for so many years! The efforts you’ve made to recover these posters – and to make them available to the public again – are wonderful. And the creation of new posters in the grand style is a marvelous tribute to the originals. My wife and I have small children and are just beginning to plan a series of visits to the National Parks with them – just as our parents did with us when we were young. These posters will be wonderful inspirations now – and later mementos of – those trips! Keep ’em coming!

Ranger Doug,
I discovered your posters several years ago on a tip to a national park (Grand Canyon I think). I just wanted to give you a big thank you for all the work to restore these old posters and bring them back to life. Every time I go to a park, I collect the poster of the park I visit. I’ve got about 6 now and have 3 more to order soon (stopped trying to carry them out with me when I travel so they don’t get damaged)!
My mom used to work for the Forestry Service as a graphic illustrator so these remind me of her time there and my time visiting her at the office as a small child and seeing Smoky the Bear and Woodsy the Owl!
Anyway, just wanted to pop a quick note to you so you know how much they are appreciated!
Thanks!
